The website of the restaurant I am choosing to redesign is Ronnie's Diner This website doen not have a lot of hiearchy, the images and colors do not compliment eachother and they are not very appealing. Every sub-page I click on, the map is always on the side of it. When you click on the "Location" sub-page, there are two maps displayed on the screen. It is not neccessary to have a "Location" page if the map is going to be displayed on every page you click on. The website does not have a modern feel. It can use some improvement on the style. Also, there are only about 5 pictures in the "Pictures" sub-page that is already displayed in the slideshow of the home-page. There is just a lost of repitition of the same things, and there aren't many things. The social media icons are not appealing. One big thing is the menus on this website are low quality and you have to zoom in to view the items and they become inlegible.
This website is not very interacitive since it only has one page which displays the location, contact info, and complete menu. However, this is also a small Diner located in Culver City and this simple website is more appealing than Ronnie's Diner. It is straight forward and displays only what it needs to.
Denny's is a chain restaurant so this website is has a lot more information but also, this website allows you to order online. This website also is able to know your location to find the closest Denny's around you. The images on this website are more appealing to the eyes. Denny's website is a lot more interactive and it has many more social media links than Ronnie's Diner. This websites also allows you to purchase gift cards through the website.
IHop's website has moving graphics and has an "Our Story" sub-page that can be an advantage because people like to hear about the backstory of the busieness they like going to. They also have an eclub which is an oppurtunity to sign up foe something similar to a rewards club which can lead to people to consistently go there for breakfast. The images on this website are also more appealing.
Some of the things we would have to research for this website is:
User tests will have to be conducted as well in order to find what works or doesn't work for people who are familiar with the restaurant. Maybe some interviews from regulars of the diner as well.
Some obvious things that will need to be modified are the imagery, colors, map appearance, hiearchy, and added content (background story and other offers)
