Market Research for Jinky's Cafe

My client for this project is Jinky's Cafe that is located in Santa Monica. Jinky's Cafe has seven branches in California.
I choose this cafe for website redesigning, beacause Santa Monica is the place that SMC is located, so I have spent lots of time in there.
I think the Jinky's website has quite high-quality pictures, and background designs, however it has some points to fix for more attractive, adn trendy business website.

Analysis

1. Visual design
Jinky's Cafe website put the main picture behind the main white text(Brand name),
it is hard to catch the customer's eyes and make them focus. The background pancakes' picture distracts the brand name, logo, and navigation.
More than three different fonts (mixed with sans-serif and serif fonts) are used randomly, so it distracts the consistency of the website.

2. Content
Contents are good and enough to describe about the Jinky's cafe.
There are greeting message, addresses of branches, description about each menus,
some food pictures, but these are not high-qualities for looking good.

4. Navigation
Navigation bar's text size is too small and the text color is also too bright to read.
Users could be hard to make action followed by navigation.

5. Functionality
I think there are enough functions and services. Even though there are more functions and sercives that other restaurants, and cafes don't have.
For example, catering, Order Online, Menus,About us(Introducing), Gift cards, Marketplace, Contact us, and Becoming a VIP customer, and etc.
I think the functions are quite a lot, so it needs to be simplier for user's understanding, and convenience.
There are already many functions, so it needs to be organized and deducted.

6. Community building (social media)
In the website, there are two icons for social media links (facebook and instagram).
However, the instagram link is not serviced, and the facebook page has just one pic, and address. It seems nobody managed the social media.

Goals and Target Audience

1. What questions need to be answered in order to complete this project?

- How to reservate the cafe?
- Where is the navigation bar?
- The cafe is opened today? (holidays, and opening time info is needed)

2. What tasks do we need to complete in order to successfully design this website? & our schedule

-Clients can find the navigation easily and fastly. (Organize navigation's content, color, and fonts.)
-Clients wants to visit or order some food in the Jinky's Cafe. (The process for order should be easy.)
-Logo, navigation, pictures, typography, and sizes will keep design consistency.
-Target Audience: Family who want to enjoy light brunch, lunch, dinning with coffee, Tourists who wants common desserts, and coffee that is easy to try,

3. What issues need to be solved?

-Too many different fonts
-Low qualities of pictures
-Not-organized many information
-Not-working social media links
-Theme colors are not clear
