My client for this assignment will be Mykonos Greek Grill

https://www.mykonos-greek-grill.com/

My goal in redesigning Mykonos website is to emphasize their online presence by arranging an easy to read and clear navigation through the site for customers and to create visual highlights on its Greek cultural heritage. The target audience is all local residents and businesses.

Analysis

Visual design: Except from the logo and name itself there’s not much on the site that reflects the Greek culture. Color pallet and menu is boring

Content: Homepage needs to be less busy with a better focus point, could benefit from more margin and whitespace. The Menu page is stale and boring. The Gallery page doesn’t make any sense if there’s no name to the dish.

Call to action: ‘Order Online’

Navigation: The sticky nav makes it easy to always have access to the navbar, the colors makes it easier to read.

Functionality: All links work, the functionality of the photo gallery falls short when there’s no descriptive text of the meal names. The site is using USERWAY, a widget that helps you provide “...your customers to have an accessible digital experience that meets strict governmental regulations.”

Social media: A facebook page with few interactions and months between postings.

Competitors Analysis

Papa Cristo’s has a design that’s better suited for a Greek atmosphere, but main page feels unorganized with too many elements, giving me the impression its more show than restaurant. Their call to action is Order Online and the sticky accessible navbar makes the site easy to navigate. They have a strong social media presence on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Petit Greek’s website has very good hierarchy that’s minimalistic with lots of white space and information but lacking the Greek atmosphere in the design. The menu is extremely pleasant and readable without being too cluttered. The links to theirs social media shows Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, although, Facebook seems to be in use with updates while the Twitter’ account has been inactive since 2018. The link to their active Instagram page is broken from the website.

Delphi Greek highly functioning site with a good construction and a compelling color palette from the Greek flag. The menu is organized and easy to read and also offered as a downloadable pdf. Their presence in social media is Facebook and Twitter.
