Garvaggio was founded in 1933 and has been family owned ever since. Ron Garvaggio started out as a waiter for a restaurant. Later, he became interested in culinary arts, so he went to school in Venice, Italy where he was taught by a master chef, Mario Paiola, which paved the way in Garvaggio’s interest in establishing a restaurant. Garvaggio moved to California with his family. They started their business of making pasta at their home and then branched into a restaurant business a decade later. They now have three locations in California, and Garvaggio at age 88 is still cooking and helping the family manage the different locations.
