Project Brief

The website of the restaurant I am choosing to redesign is Ronnie's Diner This website doen not have a lot of hiearchy, the images and colors do not compliment eachother and they are not very appealing. Every sub-page I click on, the map is always on the side of it. When you click on the "Location" sub-page, there are two maps displayed on the screen. It is not neccessary to have a "Location" page if the map is going to be displayed on every page you click on. The website does not have a modern feel. It can use some improvement on the style. Also, there are only about 5 pictures in the "Pictures" sub-page that is already displayed in the slideshow of the home-page. There is just a lost of repitition of the same things, and there aren't many things. The social media icons are not appealing. One big thing is the menus on this website are low quality and you have to zoom in to view the items and they become inlegible.

Competitive Analysis

Goals + Target Audience

The goals for redesigning this website are to get more users to go on the website and make it more visually appealing to the user. The menu needs to become legible, one of the main reasons that people go to restaurant websites are to look at the food they offer so this is very critical. The location of this diner is in a isolated small neighborhood that targets mainly locals in the area. Among those targeted are students, proffessors, families in the area and elderly people that just want a quiet meal with coffee.

Some of the things we would have to research for this website is:

User tests will have to be conducted as well in order to find what works or doesn't work for people who are familiar with the restaurant. Maybe some interviews from regulars of the diner as well.

Some obvious things that will need to be modified are the imagery, colors, map appearance, hiearchy, and added content (background story and other offers)
