Ekkamai is one of my favorite Thai restaurants around my neighborhood within walking distance. When the quarantine started I ordered from their website for the first time, I was very dissapointed to see their website since it didn't refect their buisness image . Below is a list of its competitors in the area, some of the websites will help as inspiration to give Ekkamai a brand new look.
Visual design: Ekkamai website has an outdated website, the landing page is very basic and doesn't show have the wow factor that other competitors have. Emerald is one of Ekkamai competitors and their website looks sophisticated. The other three competitors have very similar websites to Ekkamai, perhaps they haven't been upgraded in a while. Content:On the main you can click on the shopping cart to place your order online, the other options on the top are the menu, a downloadable menu, the restaurants information/address, ordering information for catering, and lastly a button that says "Los Angeles" which takes you to ordering online. “Call to action”: The website needs better organization, hierarchy with their typefaces, it needs renaming of certain buttons, the logo blends in with he background. Navigation:the mobile the website doesn't have functioning buttons, you only have the option to place food orders. On the website the home button takes you to ordering as well as the "Los Angeles" Our food button displays the long list of food items, It would be nice to have the images all in one page with their subcategories, ordering explains how ordering online works as well as catering services. Functionality: for the most part Ekkamai has a functioning website, there are images that show the whole menu options. There is always room for improvement. Community building (social media)The website doesn't have social media links, I visited their Instagram page and it doesn't have much foot traffic. Their Yelp account on the other hand has 1,199 reviews giving this restaurant 4 solid starts. In order to complete this project I would like to transform this website and give it a modern touch, It would be great if we can connect more audience through social media. Reaching out to the restaurant owners and explaining the importance of creating a bigger outlet to show people the amazing food they sell.Social media can help expand bigger clientele. We can solve this by connecting the website to Yelp, and any social media that we can. The issues that need to be solve are from their app since it doesn't show the same options the website does. I believe that within four weeks we can have the changes necessary to modernize the website.Satdha website has a nice picture slide show that shows a lot of their dishes, the prices are below and the top has a bar for ordering. Its a one page website and on the bottom it has a Facebook.A La Carte Thai Bistro also has the sliding show on the top and below the food is separated by categories from appetizers to lunch special the website has five different links for social media, and a Yelp button for users to check out the ratings as well as business hours. There is a button that allows the user see the next carry out/delivery time. Wirings Thai Restaurant has a drop down list on the left for Home, Menu, specials, rewards, location, and orders. There is an option to print out the menu, I clicked on the "rewards" option to see what they were but I believe you must be a client in order to collect rewards, and create an account.Unlike the other websites this one doesn't offer images of their dishes. The last competitor is Emerald Thai Cuisine, the home page shows the restaurant's history, the gallery has only four images for their dishes. For the options, it has a home button, menu, another about, hours, contact, press, and order online. The press is reviews from Tripadvisor and tomato. Ekkamai can integrate some of the concepts the competitors have to create a strong and newer website.
