Project #1: Market Research
Analysis: Sachi.LA coffee shop
Visual Design
- There are many nicely taken photos throughout the site which is the focal point of each page.
- The background is a little boring. I'm not a fan of the two different shades of grewy used within close proximity of each other on the bottom of the home page.
- It would be nice if the homepage was slightly different than the rest of the site by not being so grid-locked and allowing a litte more liveliness in the layout.
- The font is very generic and doesn't add to any sense of unique identity. Maybe try another font that is subtle in style.
Content
- Needs an "About" page.
- Overall content is kept very minimal; no unneccessarily long explanations. However, it's a little too minimal, practially bare, and many things are lacking descriptions. Not friendly to first-time customers.
"Call to action" on home page
- Store location linked to Google Maps makes it easy to get directions. Also included are their address, phone number, and email.
- A section at the bottom of the home page to add your email to their email list.
Navigation
- "Shop" and "Order Now" brings you to the same page. I don't see the need in having both.
- Needs a dedicated "Menu" page in the nav bar, because the fresh coffee and pastries are jumbled together with the other goods being sold.
Functionality
- The process of ordering drinks online is simple and effective.
- The check-out process is very intuitive with minimal explanations needed.
Community building (social media)
- I like that the homepage has a section for their social media handle and previous posts, but it doesn't specify whether the handle is for Instagram (which I assume it is), and there isn't a direct link to their sociald media account there. You need to mannually search it up.
Goals
- Attract more in-person customers through the website
- Increase traction and business for the online shop
Target Audience
- Hipster Millenials and GenZers who appreciate good coffee and pastries, are plant parents, like all things natural, and are overall very environmentally conscious.
- College students
- Young professionals, most likely working in a creative field
Questions
- What questions need to be answered in order to complete this project?
- How can the website help attract more in-person customers for the cafe?
- What tasks do we need to complete in order to successfully design this website?
- Add more descriptions
- Add a menu
- Add an About section
- Bring some of the shopping categories out to the nav bar so not everything is stacked under "Shop"
- What issues need to be solved?
- Rearrange the homepage to be less static
- What is our schedule?
