Research For Sugar Taco LA

Sugar Taco

Sugar Taco LA is a women owned, eco-friendly, plant based Mexican restaurant. They are still under construction so they haven't opened yet but they already have a website and I'd love to use them for my assignment. I also found three vegan/ plant based restaurants to compare them with. All very succesful and hip. The reason I chose Sugar Taco is because first of all it'll be colorful and I like to try out and use more color than what I'm used to in my designs, but also because I think their design choices with the sugar skull are kind of boring and I expected more. For me it would be great to see if I can do better. Take the mexican theme and come up with something more elegant and female empowering.

What doesn't work:
    1. Too childish
    2. Inconsistent
    3. Boring
    4. The logo is too big on the landing page
What works:
    1. The colors
    2. The images
    3. The idea
    4. The Name
Comparing restaurants: Crossroads Kitchen, Sage and Cafe Gratitude
What I like/ don't like about Crossroads Kitchen:

The website is clean, the colors are dark, which makes everything look more serious. Overall I think it is a nice look for clean food. I don't like that there is so much info. I guess you need most of the info but I think it looks over crowded. I think it's something I have to get used to. The other two pages have that too.

What I like/ don't like about Sage:

I like about the website that it is very clean and straight forward. I like the logo a lot and the color scheme works well. What I don't like on the desktop version of the website is, that the pictures seem a little too big and you have to scroll to see them fully. I think it takes away from the great quality of the images.

What I like/ don't like about Cafe Gratitude:

I think I like Cafe Gratitudes website the best of all the websites. It is clean and well organised like the others but somehow more friendly. The website looks fresh and it makes me hungry when I browse it which is great because it's a restaurant. Cafe Gratitude also has pretty big images but they tackle it better by having the slides move with the scroll while the images stay stationary.
