Some things to think about for redesigning the site:
- Prefer to have only 4 links in the top nav (which won't include Reservations). Definitely no more than 5.
- Reservations might be a quick link in the header area. But I've also considered creating a button in the top fold of the site instead. Regardless, it will also be included in the footer.
- What does "Events" mean to users? In the case of Spitfire Grill and Ashalnd Hill, they're using it to call out events that they (the restaurant) puts on. However, Bavel uses it to tell users that they (the user) can host they're own events at the restaurant. So is "Events" the best word for Spitfire Grill?
- I'm torn about where to put "Contact". It will definitely be in the footer. But should it also be in the secondary nav? Half of the restaurant sites are putting it in their top nav, half are including all of the information (not a link) in the footer. Most people I know get the hours and contact from a Google search, but some may want to see it easily on the site. I may explore putting some basic info on the top half of the main page (similar to Little Prince).
- "About" or "Our Story"? I like the latter because they have both a long history and an interesting tie-in to the plane imagery. But the former is shorter and looks better with the names of the other top nav pages.
- Instead of having links to separate PDFs, all the different Menus will be treated as they are on the Badmaash site.
- The current "Wine Tasting Gallery" only features images from a specific event. I'll be renaming it "Gallery" and including images for the food and the restaurant itself to give users a better feel for what it's like to eat there.
