My chosen website for redesign is the Spitfire Grill. http://www.spitfiregrill.net/index.html The website is pretty bare bones and isn’t up to date with twentieth century website technology. There are no social media accounts. The website is hardly interactive. The navigation takes up half of the page and is bulky and ugly. The chosen colors for the website are unappealing. This website needs a whole makeover.
Competitive Analysis:
Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken: The visual design is clean and appealing. The orange wording color and tan background work for the design. The content is well done. The website has information about the career opportunities with the company. Has a menu and food items. The call to action on the home page is not much. Most of the important things are found on other pages. The four tabs on the navigation bar are enough. Everything seems to be working and in order. They have twitter and Instagram links.
Browns Court: The colors of the website are good colors for a coffee shop. The content is solid. The home page is where everything is located on the website. The navigation bar is well designed. Everything is solid and working. They have twitter and facebook.
Chego: The black background is distracting. This is the most complex website with all of the information it has on it. The home page is equivalent to that of a Wikipedia page where it is very long in length. The navigation is complex but it works. I have yet to find anything that doesn’t work on the website. The company has facebook and twitter.
Goals & Target Audience
There needs to be a target audience for the redesign of the website as well as goals for the whole redesign process. I believe that the target audience should be hipster middle aged college students. If I can turn this into a hip coffee place to be then the traffic will increase. I need to research more into what hipster college kids like and don’t like so I have a better understanding of our new target audience so I can better design for them. I need to create social media accounts for the coffee shop so I can get the word out about the new design.
