Project Research: Moles La Tia Moles La Tia
I liked that that they are trying to embrace art that is native to the cuisines region in their site design.
Site looks dated.
Font choices do not seem appropriate
Not visually appealing
Information does not seem to be laid out conveniently
Offers very little useable information and it makes you jump around to find it.
Guelagetza
visually engaging. Pictures have movement, information is well laid out, typography is appropriate and modern. Social media links prominently located. The site then guides the user to other forms of communication with the restaurant, phone number, hours of operation are all very accessible.
La Huasteca
Modern design as well. Pictures are more static then Guelaguetza’s but they are beautifully composed. Good color scheme. Emphasized their ambiance and multiple locations which is something they are known for.
La Casita Mexicana
of the three competitors this one seems the most flawed, but it still is much better designed then Moles las tias site. More dated then the previous two but leagues ahead of Moles Las tias.
Target audience: Moles La tia is known for the quality of their mole, it is a heavy hitter that can battle with any of the above restaurants. However, its dated site cuts out a younger demographic. The lack of social media integration all but ensures that its clientele will be older. It has the feel of a classic restaurant that does not seem to embrace change. The goal of the site should be to update its look and modernize it while keeping to its core values. The quality of the food needs to be showcased in an appropriate fashion. The dated site gives the impression of an old business that is ready to retire. Out of focus pictures, dull color selection and dishes that are chipped are not an appropriate look for a cuisine that is trusted and developed.
