The restaurant I chose to re-design is MTNvenice...
What works with this website is it's simplicity in comparison to a lot of other restaurant sites. There is a lot of beautiful imagery of traditional Chinese architecture. Which gives off the feel of understanding what it's like to see the dishes after they are made, the workspace in which the food is made, and the work that is put in to get the order to people around town which is primarly through cycling!
The Mtn's move to a more robust web presense will make them more accessible to a younger crowd from all around the cities of China
and they will be seen as one of the most accessible restaurant websites of it's kind. In addition, the I would like to achive these site goals...
Display larger format images and videos in a beautiful, uncluttered way.
Create oppotunites for more editorial and blog content
Make the site responsive to users can view all content on mobile devices.
Display important Restaurant information, including hours, location, menu, social media, frequently asked questions, etc....
My first impression of the site was it's responsiveness and how fliud the interface scrolls. The navigation is a lot more accessible than Jinya which is another competitor I references. For instance, once a user click on the menu it will give you the option to book in a particulare city which is very helpful considering I dont have to exit the page to do another task!!
The first impression I had about Kabuki was it's colors on the site were very bright and the food dishes match the theme as well which is visually appealing. Social media plays a big role on this site, I noticed they hold sports events at the restaurant and makes it more of a social/bar feel rather than the other competitor sites. Also, there is a link/picture to Texas and Florida relief that allows a user to go on blogs and social media programs to share to others which is very nice. It seems like the target audience is defintely for a younger crowd.
The visual design of jinya is elegant and has a very warm feeling. Great slide show of the insde and outside of the restaurant.. The navigation is hidden on the site and a user would have to search for it. However, once found the menu is just as neat and clean as the site's interface.. Lastly, the about section takes you to a youtube video of the city in which the restaurant is in. People give their reviews in the video, there is a tour of the restaurant in the video as well. Also, it shows the service, chiefs at work, beautiful dishes of their food etc...
