Design Brief:
Design a logo for yourself or for a design studio that you might launch after graduation.
For Phase 1, design at least twelve (12) different sketches of simple logo marks, symbols, or brands that express something unique and significant about your creative perspective and design agenda.
These logo sketches can be hand-drawn or digitally illustrated.
Remember that the emphasis is on variety and diversity of visual expression! Please make sure that all twelve (12) of your logo sketches are exploring different visual aesthetics. Do not bring in twelve versions of the same logo that are barely different from one another. Look at the case studies in our discussion deck with logo iterations for the Nintendo Wii or Asics for examples of unique and different iterations of logo forms.
Project Theme — “Identity”:
The conceptual design theme for this project is “Identity”: What does it mean to understand, capture, and express an “identity” for a person or organization? Is the translation from concept to mark meant to be aspirational? Do conceptions, biases, and assumptions about identity impact the visual outcomes that we achieve as designers, or do they create them?
