Teapots are deceptively complex objects.
A good teapot has to do 5 jobs.
A successful teapot must:
- Let you open it up to put tea leaves & hot water inside
- Provide enough internal space to let the tea leaves mix freely with the hot water
- Pour without dribbling or leaking from under the lid
- Have a handle that lets you grasp & pour it in a controlled way without burning your hand off
- Be easy to rinse out & clean afterwards
Different cultures have arrived at different teapot designs to solve these problems.
