I'm going to redesign the website of Bottega Louie!

Website Analysis

What works:

  • Beautiful light pink, maroon, and white color scheme. The main image on home screen goes with color scheme.
  • Simplicity
  • Navigation is easy to use with drop-down sub-navigations
  • Easy to know what page you're on because of page titles
  • What doesn't work:

  • Menu and contact are not on main navigation and are very hard to find
  • Hours of operation hard to find
  • They advertise gifts as their main selling point...instead of their restaurant
  • Weak information heirarchy
  • Some pages have small font size...hard to read
  • Need images of the food they serve
  • Need to emphasize that they are a restaurant with a dessert shop inside

    Goals and Target Audience

    Bottega Louie's business goals is to really push that they are not only a restaurant, but a patisserie as well. They are most notable for their macarons in their patisserie. So, they have two target audiences. The first audience is people who want an elaborate italian dinner. The second is people who want sophisticated and pretty desserts to take home.

    Questions that need to be addressed:

  • Are there to-go or delivery options?
  • What restaurant items is the restaurant known for?
  • What color palette would work best for this restaurant?
  • Are there reservation options?
  • Is menu better as a PDF or directly on site?
  • Tasks that need to be completed:

  • Choose appropriate fonts and font sizes
  • Rebrand
  • Rename
  • Evaluate color scheme
  • "Explore" needs to be its own separate page
  • Contact page needs to be added
  • Add a bottom navigation
  • Issues that need to be solved:

  • Better information heirarchy
  • Include images of restaurant dinner options
  • Menu needs to be on main navigation
  • Links to other pages within site need to be more obvious
  • New location advertising needs to be better

    Since, we are on week 2, there are 12 weeks to build this website! The final website will be up June 7, 2020.
