While Jhonen Vasquez may not be a "designer" he was the first artist who really inspired me and who has probably had the largest influence on me, creatively speaking. His content heavily incorporates dark humor and satire. I would also describe his art style as gritty, almost grotesque; his characters are highly geometric and lanky, usually with very black thick outlines. I was introduced to his work through Invader Zim when it premiered and his work has been a huge source of inspiration throughout my life since.
