Design is all around us. From print design to web design, there are many amazing designers who continue to create amazing work. In this section, I will discuss one designer who has inspired me, Tina Roth Eisenberg. Tina Roth Eisenberg, also known as swissmiss “[b]ecause of the popularity of [her] blog [swissmiss],” is a designer, blogger, and businessperson based in New York. She grew up in Speicher (AR), Switzerland, and states that “[i]n 1999, after completing my design studies in Geneva and Munich,” (swissmiss) came to New York to pursue a field in design. On Like Know Like’s, a website dedicated to producing original and partnered short films, a short documentary about her, Roth Eisenberg states that while working as a graphic designer she started several side projects. These side projects started out of seeing a niche to add to with her work. She further states in the Like Know Like short documentary that “I didn’t really decide to do it. I thought it was going to be fun to do this thing or I saw a need for it and then they evolved into businesses.” Her work spans a portfolio of diverse types. In addition, to swissmiss, she is the CEO / founder of the “global monthly lecture series” Creative Mornings, the founder of Tattly, an artist-driven temporary vegetable-based ink tattoo brand, co-founder with Brooklyn based engineering and design studio Fictive Kin and designer of the “designy” (swissmiss) to-do app TeuxDeux, and is the founder and runs the Friends Brooklyn co-working space.
